Margaret Imrie

Our Literary & Philosophical Society has a history full of incident. A rocky start included a treasurer who embezzled the funds and an alcoholic president. This was followed by a Royal visit, near bankruptcies and the sudden destruction of two of its 'homes'. That it survived is a triumph and, as Hull's Year of Culture approaches, the Society can be very proud that it is the oldest cultural organisation in the city.

Margaret was educated at Malet Lambert High School and Manchester and London Universities. She then taught in Lancashire and later for the Hull University Country House Studies Course at Burton Constable. She was also a N.A.D.F.A.S. lecturer for some years.

The Society meets at the Hull Royal Hotel, 170 Ferensway, Hull HU1 3UF
All lectures are presented in the Royal Suite and start at 7.30pm prompt.

Doors are normally open at 6.45pm but access may be delayed if lecture preparations are not complete.
The audience are requested to please be in their seats before 7.25pm
